sixeart

SIXEART

Sergio Hidalgo Parades is a contemporary artist from Barcelona known as Sixe art or Sixeart. He started to paint graffiti in the late 1980s. In the mid-90s he developed his multidisciplinary talents in the fields of sculpture and studio painting
The image above is by artist Sixeart, the image itself is abstract, it is a picture made up by shapes and bright colours that have no real scheme to them. They are bold, effective and have a very high contrast. There is no text to image, that adds to the effectiveness of the picture and the severity of the effect of the image.
I feel indifferent towards this piece of art, i appreciate the art itself i just feel nothing towards it

Blu

Blu

Blu is the pseudonym of an Italian artist who conceals his real identity. He was born in Senigallia. He lives in Bologna and has been active in street art since 1999

The image above is a mural by street artist Blu, the image suggests to me that by joining the military you are losing your brain, and being brain washed.
The image is done in very cool pale tones which contrasts the dark theme behind the meaning of the image. The palette used is not limited, rather different shades of the same 2 colours.
There is no text to this image, this is a tactical way of making people think for themselves, which helps add to the theme of the art.
The theme of the art work makes he audience question the meaning, it is very reflective.
Besides drawing and painting, the technical universe of Blu is completed by a skilful use of the digital medium. Proof of that can be seen in his website where his manual craftsmanship is combined with computer programming language. The recurring themes of his imagery play on the distortion of the human figure. He speaks a pop vocabulary which resembles the automatic writing process of the surrealist tradition with purely rhetorical processes.

I respect this art and appreciate the theme and the skill required to make such piece but it doesn't speak to me on as much of a personal level as other pieces might

banksy

Banksy.
Banksy is a pseudonymous English graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter. His satirical street art and epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique.

The image above is by Street artist Banksy called 'mobile lovers' , it is a monotone painting of two people who at first glance appear to be kissing/hugging, when you look into the image you see that they are both actually just looking at their phones, the screen of the phones are lighting up each persons face, this is a representation that technology is now the only optimistic thing that people have in their life and that it is now more important than relationships with other people.
The lack of colour makes the image seem more classic, this is a clever contrast from the content of the actual image.
The art itself is a very clever way of making a point, there is no text or explanation so the audience can make their own assumptions about the meaning of the painting.
The technique of this piece of art is spray paint, it is an effective way of making a realistic image look more modern, it harmonises with the theme and content of the image.

My opinion of this picture is that it is very clever and is a good way of making people question the importance and status of technology to us,

YSL b&w

To achieve this I duplicated the coloured image and converted it to black and white and erased parts of the foreground so the coloured background would come through and create a high contrast image because i used red and flesh tones in comparison to the black/grey/white tones.
